Mighty dragon
The dragon holds a unique place in the Chinese zodiac and folklore. For thousands of years, it was associated with the emperor and his descendants, symbolising wisdom, enlightenment, and benevolence. Said to control the elements, and thus provide rain for good harvests, the dragon was also associated with prosperity and good fortune. The only mythical creature to be represented in the lunar zodiac, the mighty dragon is said to bestow bravery, persistence, ambition and intelligence on those born under its influence.
Coloured dragon design
The coin portrays a coloured representation of a dragon with water cascading from its mouth, stylised waves, and a flaming pearl, a symbol of wisdom. Included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’ and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
Memorial Obverse
The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. Also on the obverse is the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination, and year-date.
Presentation packaging
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is presented in a classic display case with a geometric design on its transparent lid. The case comes in an illustrated shipper featuring a dragon.
