1oz Silver Horse Coin 2026
AUSTRALIAN LUNAR SERIES III2026 Year of the HorseSilver Bullion Coins
The Perth Mint is proud to present these magnificent silver bullion coins to celebrate the Year of the Horse, the seventh of twelve animals associated with the Chinese lunar calendar.
According to Chinese tradition, the emperor held a great race to determine who should occupy 12 positions in the lunar calendar. The free-spirited horse raced behind the dragon but was startled when a snake coiled around its hoof, causing a delay. Despite the setback, the resilient horse claimed seventh place with unyielding spirit.
Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990 and every 12th preceding year are said to be independent, charismatic and love a sense of adventure. Being passionate and spirited, they are gifted with natural charm and an ability to inspire others.
The reverse of each coin portrays a representation of a majestic mare alongside her young foal, both depicted with elegant manes in a striking galloping stance. The background includes towering mountains and the lush serenity of grasslands.
Also included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘Horse’, the inscription ‘HORSE 2026’, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse of each coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the weight, fineness, and the monetary denomination.
No mintage limit applies to the 1 kilo, 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz coins. Except for the 1 kilo release, production of these coins will close at the end of 2026 when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. The Perth Mint will produce up to 300,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first. Due to the low mintage of the 1oz size it is highly sought-after and is sure to sell out fast.
