Issued as Australian legal tender, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date and the monetary denomination. The coin’s reverse portrays a flying kookaburra against the backdrop of a full moon.
The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and year-date are included in the design. The design also includes the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, weight, and purity.
Kookaburra’s are produced in a limited mintage each year with a different design each year making them rarer than the Koala which has no limit. Only 500,000 1oz coins will be released this year.
Perth Mint coins come encased in a hard clear plastic case to help keep coins in pristine condition.
