The design of the coin is a koala sitting on the branch of a eucalyptus tree surrounded by the gum leaves.
The design incorporates the Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark and also includes the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA, the 2018 year-date, weight, and purity.
The Lan Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse of each coin.
